Top 10 – Gratuitously Violent Characters

It’s grisly, it’s over the top, it’s explosive, it’s gory and frankly it’s unnecessary. We love it! When a character’s heights of violence have become so visceral and excessive that it’s borderline funny in how exaggerated it is, then the character becomes something truly and ridiculously memorable.

Grab yourself a mallet and a big bag of dynamite, and join us in a blood party of epic and stupid proportions as we count down through our Top 10 of gratuitously violent characters, but be forewarned because while we try and keep things civil around here the characters listed do not. Some of the content may be bloody, brutal, and even unpleasant.

Bust

What is it?

Bust is a dark comic series which features a man called Jack, a card dealer from the City of Lights, Sin City itself – Las Vegas. Jack is forced to fight for survival in a world that has gotten diseased and has gone mad!

Pick no bones about this one, ladies and gentlemen, this is an action-packed, violent and bloody first episode and I’ll admit the thing that really struck me about Bust is its art style. That was the first thing to draw me to this wonderfully dark comic project.

You can read the first 12 pages of Issue #1 for free on the Bust blog.

Yes, you can read the first 12 pages for free on the Bust blog which I’ve checked out and it’s brilliant. Go over there and check it out now. Please note though, I’ve warned you once but one more warning for you all: It’s violent. It’s bloody. It’s action packed – All like the artist and author described.

The author of Bust is by a games critic called Dave Cook from VG247, whereas the artist is Chris O’Toole.

How much do they need?

£1,200 is all they are asking for. That £1,200 will be going towards funding the development process of another 3-4 new pages on the Bust blog (again check this link) as well as the printing process for the Bust comic.

What rewards are they giving?

As always, the rewards help to make a great campaign and this has to be one of my favourites to date for the generosity of the reward prices:

  • Pledge £1 or more

Nice! You’re helping Bust Issue #1 come to life and for that you have our thanks. You can’t see it, but we’re waving a thumbs up in your direction. Thank you!

That’s all of the rewards, which as you can see, even the highest rewards aren’t that expensive! Seriously, these are good rewards for a nice looking comic that has plenty of time left on Kickstarter. At the time of writing, the campaign still had 43 days to go with £590 out of £1,200 already pledged towards their goal.

Good luck guys, I hope you make it.

Did you enjoy this weeks’ highlight? What do you think of Bust? Would you read a comic that’s as violent or as bloody as this? Would you recommend it to anyone? As ever, let us know in the comments and we’ll see you next time for another awesome Kickstarter Highlight.
